I want the images and metadata from the source library to go into the existing library, (I believe I accomplish this but I am confused because the old library is still there). My goal in doing this merger was to simplify things and reduce the number of libraries I had. I was merging a small library into an existing library, not a new library.Īnd is leaving the source libraries untouched. Is the revealed photo inside the merged Photos Library or in a folder outside the library? Ctrl-click or right-click the photo and select "Show original file in Finder". To see, if your photos have been copied into the merged library or not, open the library in Power Photos and select one of the photos you merged into the new library. What do you mean? Are you seeing the photos in the Finder, outside the library? Did you import the photos as "referenced", meaning that you imported them with the option "Photos > Preferences > Importing: Copy items into the Photos Library" disabled? Then the merged library will also use the same referenced photos. Not only is the old source library still there, but so are the photos contained in it.
#Powerphotos merge order archive
I have two external drives, where I archive the previous versions of other library - one drive for the archive and on drive as a backup copy of this archive. Once you copied the library to an external drive, you can delete the library you merged into the other library.

There is no other application, that could move the pair as an entity.

You can only move the edited versions or the originals to the other library, but not both of them as a pair. You will need a copy the original library anyway, because merging with PowerPhotos is lossy. Keep a copy of the originals libraries on external drive, so you can go back to the library, when you discover that items did not migrate correctly. It is creating a new merged library and is leaving the source libraries untouched. Power Photos is working like the old iPhoto Library Manager.
